Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tong’i has called for disbandment of Ford People party and urged its members to join newly formed Jubilee Alliance Party.

Ford People party has been embroiled in internal intrigues over management with former Kitutu Masaba MP Mwancha Okioma ousting Mr Henry Obwocha, a long-serving party chairperson recently.

Mr Tong’i, who was speaking at Riondong’a on Thursday at a funeral ceremony, said the party should be disbanded as an austerity measure of combating escalating differences among its veteran members.

“I am a member of Ford-People and I am worried with the unfolding events. Time has come for us to disband the party and join JAP. As Gusii community, we need to be in a winning team instead of playing divisive politics and JAP has a higher chance of winning in 2017. The wrangles in Ford are an indication that time has come to disband the party and merge with Jubilee,” he said.

He defended Jubilee government, saying it had achieved a lot citing improved infrastructure in the area as a major benefit and also cautioned against post-election coalitions.

“We should not wait till after elections to sign post-election pacts. Our solid support for Jubilee before the elections will give us a major state in government because the party will still win. Its time now for us to join the winning team or have a region secluded in development,” he said.

He challenged the wrangling leaders to bury a hatchet and urged them to expeditiously call for a meeting to discuss the way forward for Ford People.
