Kisumu West Constituency MP Olago Aluoch has defended opposition leader Raila Odinga over the list he released concerning the Eurobond funds last week.

Olago said Raila did not call anybody a thief in relation to the loss of money in Eurobond trading. He said that the former premier only gave names of those who should know and tell Kenyans where the money disappeared to.

“Raila read out the names of people in positions within the government who should know more about the money in question,” he said.

The MP said statements by Raila are not defamatory in law.

“As a lawyer I can tell you that the statements by Raila are not defamatory and cannot stand the test of a court of law,” he said.

Speaking in his constituency on Monday, Olago wondered why treasury cabinet secretary Henry Rotich is taking too long to tell Kenyans where the funds are.

He said it is only difficult to give Kenyans the answers on the Eurobond only if Rotich is hiding something from Kenyans.

“It is very simple, let Rotich tell Kenyans how the money was spent, Kenyans want to see mega projects that were undertaken by the funds,” he said.

Olago told those planning to take Raila to court for defamation that they are wasting their precise time.
