Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire Wednesday issued a Sh1 million cheque to Riakworo Primary and secondary schools meant for refurbishment of the two institutions which are the oldest in Gesima ward, Nyamira County.
Speaking during the event, Bosire said his administration was keen on improving infrastructure in the institutions and equipping them with facilities for improved performances.
He urged teachers and parents to create a good working rapport towards the common purpose of improving academic performance of area institutions.
“My administration is always ready to help our institutions in terms of improving infrastructure and facilities which are necessary in learning. It’s now up to the teachers and parents to ensure they work for the common good of improving performances of the institutions,” he said.
Bosire said he would fight any attempts by some politicians who try to drag politics into institutions saying the habit was dragging management and general administration of area schools behind.
“I am someone who doesn't like interfering with internal issues of institutions, but I want to caution some politicians who have developed a habit of politicising management of schools. As your MP, I will oppose such errant politicians and I won’t regret about it. Our institutions should be free of politics,” he said.
Riakworo Primary School will get Sh300,000 out of the Sh1 million, with the Riakworo Secondary School taking the balance.
