Kiambu Town Member of Parliament (MP) Jude Njomo has urged bodaboda operators in the constituency to apply for the Biashara Fund being issued by the county government in a bid to expand their businesses.

Addressing bodaboda riders at Kiambu bus terminus on Tuesday, Njomo asked the operators to take advantage of the government funds.

The MP said that with the help of the funds, bodaboda operators will be able to invest and expand their businesses.

Njomo said the bodaboda sector has created employment opportunities to many jobless youth hence the need for the operators to invest and expand the sector.

“We are encouraging youth to apply for the funds being given by the government so as to start business and invest more,” he said.

The Kiambu MP noted that unemployment remains a challenge but lauded the initiatives launched by the government in a bid to create employment opportunities for the youth.

The Kiambu lawmaker also encouraged marginalised groups from the constituency to utilise every opportunity presented to them.

He specifically asked women and persons living with disabilities to seek the funds and start business ventures.

Njomo decried the low number of women and disabled persons seeking the Biashara and the Uwezo Funds in the constituency.

The Kiambu town legislator vowed to advocate for youth empowerment and development programmes.
