Kathiani member of parliament Robert Mbui has accused Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission of unfairness in the distribution of biometric voter registration kits.

Mbui who was speaking in Salvation army Mutui in Kathiani on Sunday alleged that areas that support the jubilee coalition were supplied with enough BVR kits whereas areas supporting Cord coalition were issued with insufficient and dysfunctional kits.

Mbui gave an example of Machakos county which has 5,500 square metres was only supplied with 150 BVR kits compared with Kiambu county which is 2400 square metres and was supplied with 180 BVR kits.

He noted that in Ukambani region many people are forced to walk long distances to acquire these services where he urged people not to give up regardless and come out in large numbers to register as voters.

"It's sad to see our people walk for long distances in order to register as voters but I urge them not to give up," said Mbui.

Nonetheless, the legislator stopped at nothing to say that the national government and the county government of Machakos have delayed in repairing Thwake bridge that was carried away three months ago during el nino rains saying that transport and business has been greatly affected.
