A nominated MP has lauded the Kiambu County government for supporting People Living with Disability with funds and empowerment programs.
Isaac Mwaura said he has been visiting the various special schools in Thika and noted that there have been changes made since he left the area.
“I schooled in Thika for over 14 years and my return is always met with new things, initiatives, programmes and developments from the county government. The school I schooled in has always been decrying of neglect and nowadays everything is settled,” he said.
Speaking in Thika on Saturday, Mwaura said the county has supported the group in all the activities including tender offering.
He added that the county has stood as an example and urged other counties to emulate Kiambu.
He encouraged the disabled persons in the county to feel free and seek services from the government as he is sure Kabogo’s leadership is free and transparent to everyone.
Mwaura said that the government recognises the rights of disabled persons and has put in place appropriate policies to cater for their welfare.
He further asked the disabled persons to form groups and seek tenders from the county government through the National Council for People Living With Disabilities as they are in good terms with the county government of Kiambu.
