Borabu MP Ben Momanyi has been accused of misleading boda boda operators by allegedly hiring them to guard him during public gatherings attended by his opponents.

This comes barely a day after operators believed to be the legislator’s supporters disrupted a public rally on Wednesday at Mekenene ward in which top aspirants (Nyandoro Kambi and Patrick Osero) were in attendance.

Speaking on Thursday at a fundraiser in Mogusii, Dr Nyandoro Kambi, who is also eyeing the parliamentary seat told off the MP and urged him to engage the bodaboda operators in constructive activities other than ‘political hooliganism’.

“We are in the 21st century and I don’t expect learned people to misuse youths who have a bright future. It’s wrong to boda boda operators and using them as political hooligans. He (Momanyi) should devise ways of helping them constructively other than 'taking them everywhere' he goes,” he said.

Nyandoro said the MP's actions were dragging the region behind economically since they were inciting residents against each other.

“This is a free world and we expect everyone to be respected. It’s inappropriate for someone to incite people against others. He should remember that we also have significant support hence we are not alone. This is the time to help our people move forward,” he added.

He urged the operators to work with leaders who had positive plans rather than being used as ‘vessels of impunity’ to bring discomfort among residents.
