The Gatanga MP, Humphrey Njuguna has advocated for the reduction of the number of counties in Kenya.
He said the reduction will help Kenya develop. Njuguna has suggested that the counties should be reduced from 47 to 15.
The MP said the number of senates together with women representatives should also be slashed because the high number of positions in government is a burden on the taxpayers. He proposed for the change of the constitution saying it only milks common mwananchi’s money. He now wants Kenya to copy Britain which has only two governors but is more developed than Kenya.
His sentiments have been echoed by Kibera youths who say the mighty government officials are just feeding on the poor Kenyans.
Eliud Wanjale said it is true that the number of government officials should be reduced.
‘‘The president should reduce these positions in government because they are quite confusing and a burden to the citizens,’’ he said.
‘’It is funny that the government officials are large in number but still fight amongst themselves everyone demanding to be in charge of different things. This means they are even more confused,’’ said Isaac Soita.
