Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tong’i has said lack of teamwork and constant wrangles between politicians contributes to poor development in Kisii County.

He urged Nyamira county residents to embrace unity and work with their elected leaders in all community development projects if the county is to achieve meaningful progress.

The MP made the appeal at Nyaturubo in Birongo ward during a burial where he said he is looking into bringing the Kisii community together to spearhead development in the region.

“It is only through a collaborative approach to pertinent issues affecting us that the county can realise its socio-economic potential for growth and not through persistent blame games," he said.

He said the county and national governments should consider improving the education sector so that there can be a great future.

“The challenges facing the region’s education sector currently bogged down by persistent poor results in national exams can be tackled if we work in partnership with all stakeholders,” the MP added.

He said the education status in the county faces many challenges including a shortage of teachers, poor and inadequate learning facilities, and high drop-out rates resulting to low academic standards.
