The Kibera MP, Ken Okoth, has come up strongly to congratulate the former prime minister, Raila Odinga, for developments done in Kibera.
Speaking to women at the CDF hall, Okoth said Odinga did a very good job while serving as Langata MP.
Okoth called on the national government to put in correct measures to enable slum upgrades countrywide.
''Why do we have slums 55 years after independence? Because we have been made to believe that we have a gap between the rich and the poor. If this gap is bridged, we will not have slums in Kenya,'' added the MP.
He insists that if the gap is not bridged, then there will be mushrooming of slums all over the country. He, however, says Kibera’s development is being frustrated by cartels.
Kibera’s face will soon change as a result of upgrade strategy. The slum already has flats being constructed at Soweto village.
