President Uhuru Kenyatta’s congratulatory message to the Ugandan President-elect has been termed as ‘premature and uncalled for’ by the Kitutu Masaba MP, who now wants international community top subject the East African nation to international trade sanctions and blockade.

President Yoweri Museveni was declared the winner in an election that saw leading opposition leader Kizza Besigye arrested and detained at least four times during the election period.

But Mr Timothy Bosire believes the elections were not free and fair and urged the international community to take an action against President Museveni and his regime for allegedly subjecting Ugandans to dictatorship.

“I am shocked that President Kenyatta could congratulate Museveni hastily despite what we saw happening in Uganda. I think it was rather premature and uncalled for. The international community should protect majority of Uganda who have been subjected to dictatorship by imposing sanction on the regime,” he said.

He also slammed the African Union and called for its disbandment, saying it was backing oppressive regimes by violating basic human rights.

“I am not shocked that AU has backed the election which was rather shambolic and has already been denounced by the European Union. The AU is a disgrace to democracy and time has come for the world to say enough is enough. The country should be sidelined by international community so that the Ugandan government learns to respect the rule of law,” he said.

Bosire challenged President Kenyatta to withdraw his congratulatory message and join the ‘majority’ Ugandans to call for regime change.

“Even our president saw what was happening. I don’t think he’s blind. He should spare Kenyans shame by withdrawing his congratulatory message,” said the ODM MP.

He was speaking at Manga when meeting a host of ODM officials to launch voter registration sensitization program on Sunday.
