A Machakos MP has written a letter to Governor Alfred Mutua over grievances of traders in a market within the county.
In a letter seen by this writer on Wednesday, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau, urged the governor to look into the issues raised by the traders at Kyumbi market within his constituency urgently.
Makau said the traders have the right to demand that their grievances be addressed as soon as possible to enable them to effectively conduct their businesses from which they earn their livelihood.
He said some of the problems the residents had complained about include lack of water and electric power connection in the market, poor construction of sheds, lack of proper drainage systems among others.
Makau said the residents complained that as much as they received poor services from the Machakos government, the same government kept collecting lots of taxes from them on a daily basis as revenue.
"There is no reason why the leadership of the government cannot speedily intervene into the issues because Mavoko constituency contributes the largest taxes to the county government," he said.
He claims that in spite of that 'fact', the same Mavoko Sub-County received the worst deal from the government due to inadequate services rendered in the region.
He called on the traders to be patient and tolerant as they wait for the governor's response to the letter.
