No regime has shown commitment in fighting graft than the Jubilee administration, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has said.
Speaking during a breakfast show on Radio Maisha on Wednesday, Murkomen rubbished as baseless, claims that Jubilee had lost the war on corruption, saying the government had empowered all anti-graft agencies to help end the menace.
"Look around and you will realise that the government has empowered the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and the Judiciary to do their work effectively and independently. That shows how committed we are in fighting this menace," he said.
He added that President Uhuru Kenyatta is keen in dealing with graft, and was only being slowed down by unnecessary constitutional provisions and the courts.
"Yesterday the courts ruled that the President had erred in law by issuing a directive to the EACC and the Director of Public Prosecutions Dr Keriako Tobiko to expedite investigations against former Cabinet Secretaries Charity Ngilu and Michael Kamau because it infringed on the independence of the two bodies. So you realise that our courts sometimes are the stumbling blocks to winning this war," he said.
At the same time the Senate deputy Minority Leader distanced himself from allegations that he was involved in the National Youth Service saga saying former Devolution CS Anne Waiguru was only seeking to use him as a shield in order to evade responsibility over the loss of Sh791 million.
