Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua on Tuesday visited Kivaa ward in Masinga Constitiency where he held a meeting with locals and the area administrators.

Speaking at the meeting, Mutua accused Kivaa word MCA, Mr Alexander Kathinzi of not working with him closely resulting to the bypassing of Kivaa Ward by development projects which have been launched in other regions in Machakos County.

"Mr Kathinzi has never come to my office to present his people's problems and that's why this area has never had the privilege of getting developments like street lights which are already in most of the other markets in Machakos County," said Mutua.

The Governor promised that he will ensure a start to development projects in the area such as construction of good roads and supply of clean water for domestic use in the area.

However, the people got offended by Mutua's confession that their ward was lagging behind as far as development is concerned. They said that their MCA was representing them just right and doing his job in the county assembly as he is supposed to.

They instead accused the governor of overlooking the area in terms of development. They specifically complained about the fact that some wards have more than 20 'mulika mwizi' street light while there is not even one in their ward.
