Governor Alfred Mutua has invited former Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete to visit Machakos County.
Mutua, who met the former head of state of East Africa’s largest country in Dar-Es-Salaam, says they discussed the current scenario of African politics and development.
The governor says he thanked Kikwete for supporting his gubernatorial bid in the 2013 elections, adding that he briefed the current chairman of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) on Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement.
“He (President Kikwete) gave me advise on how to balance politics and development,” Mutua said on his Facebook page.
“I encouraged him to write a book about his experiences and he assured me that he is looking forward to taking time off to do exactly that,” the governor added.
There has been speculation that with the formation of Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement, Mutua may not defend his seat under the Wiper party. He is even believed to be toying with the idea of using his ‘movement’ to run for president in 2022.
