Artisans from Machakos County have called upon Governor Alfred Mutua to fulfil the promises he made to them.
Members of the Mililuni Artisan Society and Wamunyu Artisan Society, both located in Mwala Sub-County, held a meeting on Monday in Mwala Town with the aim of airing their grievances which they expect to be presented to Governor Mutua by their chairmen.
"The governor promised us that he would set aside funds to develop artisans in the county under the department of Tourism, Sports and Culture, but we are yet to benefit from the benefit from the funds. We have worked very hard over the years to keep these artisan centres alive despite the many challenges we face," said Joseph Mutuku, the society's manager.
The artisans called on the county government to help them develop their skills adding that artisanship is their main source of living.
