Never ignore a simple start as you never know where your blessings are.

Use the little opportunities you have to make ends meet and maybe you might be the next Njenga Karume.

From this, meet a lady in Gituamba Town who decided not to wait for the government to help but took the bull by the horns to give herself a future.

Mama Mukami popularly known as ‘Wamutush’ might not seem to be wealthy or serious with life as she operates a ‘Mutungo’ (boiled maize) small business in Gituamba.

Wamutush is a living example that being dedicated to one job can pay and advance someone’s life.

The 47-year-old mother of three has educated all her children to university level from her small business. She sells each maize at Sh20 and can make a minimum of Sh600 daily.

She is now a mother of a nurse, secondary school teacher and an economist. The mother has further bought a two-acre piece of land in Ruai with a construction currently ongoing.

Wamutush is optimistic to complete her house with little help from her husband who operates as a welding technician. She is not ready to beg for ‘serikali saidia’ which she terms as crazy.

“I know how to survive on little. It’s only a matter of saving, spending wisely and focusing on planned goals. I have educated all my children with my last born son studying at Kenyatta University currently. My husband gets very little from his welding job which we combine and save,” she says.

Wamutush has lived without begging and if this is taught to all youths, the world would be a better place.
