A woman on Tuesday told Nakuru court that her 17-year-son accused of theft has been threatening and beating her on several occasions.

She said that his son dropped out of school and has been stealing property from the neighbours adding that case that landed him in court was not the first.

“We have been trying to handle him with my friend who is our neighbour, but he beat us up. He steals property from neighbours and friends,” she said.

Lawyer Ochang Ajigo who pleaded on his behalf urged the court to request a probation report and social inquiry report to identify the relationship back at home.

“There might be other social problems that can be within the families because the relationship with the mother is not good. I wish to request the court to order for a social inquiry report before it gives its verdict on the case,” he said

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Doreen Mulekyo, the minor pleaded guilty to the theft of two pairs of shoes and the court ordered for age assessment, a probation report and social inquiry report.

The case will be mentioned on November 10.
