Education cabinet secretary, Fred Matiangi, made impromptu visits to various schools in Nakuru and Naivasha which led to shocking revelations which could be a wake up call as far as implementing the directive is concerned.

Some schools were letting students learn in deplorable conditions which according to Matiang'i is a mockery to the government which is investing heavily in improving infrastructure in schools.

"You cannot tell me this is where a student you expect to perform well learns, this is a joke. What happened to the 3.7 million annual allocation this school was given last year?" he asked.

The CS further discussed issues with both county and sub county directors of education accusing them of not doing their work well after inspecting the Naivasha Girls High School.

"It's your responsibility to earmark such annomalies and call on us to help crack the whip. This shows that you even don't conduct routine inspections in this region," he said.

The Naivasha Girls High School principal was not able to explain why the school fee structure was sh72, 000 which was sh18, 000 more than the official fees for a school of it's status.

Matiangi is in the process of touring different schools in different regions of the country as a way of restructuring the ministry, barely two months after taking over from Jacob Kaimenyi.
