Naivasha residents led by their local leaders have called upon companies and organisations currently undertaking various economic activities to prioritize them.
The leaders said they were entitled to direct benefits emanating from the several local resources that dot the area noting that for a long time now the locals had been ignored.
Speaking in one of the hotels in the area during a meeting bringing together local political leaders in the area, Interim Jubilee alliance party Naivasha branch chairperson Ndegwa Githiru said that time had come for a meeting to be held between such organisations and the locals to work out a formula of sharing the proceeds from the various projects in the area.
Githiru identified tourists attraction sites such as Hell's gate, Lake Naivasha, Mount Longonot and Olkaria as some of the resources that were supposed to benefit the local people.
He also pointed out that it was such a shame that locals had to constantly do without clean water yet several water sources surrounded the sprawling region.
"It is quite a pity that residents in Naivasha are going without water for several days yet we have large water masses like the lake here and the Aberdare ranges which are enough to sustain locals," he said.
