There was drama in the Nakuru Central Business District (CBD) on Wednesday along Kenyatta avenue whereby boda boda operators almost engaged a police officer for alleged reckless driving. More than 20 operators cornered the driver of a Land-cruiser belonging to the Central Police Station after he hit one of them from behind and tried to drive away.

It took the intervention of other officers who were reporting on duty at a bank along the street to calm down the agitated operators.

"When they hit us, they want to run away but when we hit them we are arrested, this is impunity of the highest order," noted Benjamin Rono, a boda boda operator.

Moses Mbugua, one of the officers who calmed the situation accused the operators of harassing the officer without accessing the level of the damage.

The affected boda boda operator was then given Kshs. 200 to fix the damage caused.
