Nakuru County government will not relent in its efforts to empower women to become self reliant.
This is according to governor Kinuthia Mbugua, who believes that women too have the potential of steering his development agenda if mentored and empowered.
Speaking on Friday at Kambi ya Moto in Rongai sub county during the Rongai Socio-Economic Women Organisation (Rusewo) annual general meeting where he was the chief guest, Mbugua urged women to unite and form more of such groups for a financial prosperity.
"In the modern society, you can never make it alone, come together with similar aspirations in life and form a group, apply for government grants and start from there," the governor advised.
Mbugua also called on women to play their role well in the society, saying it was their responsibility to mentor and advise young girls to avoid a crop of prodigal and unmanageable youths.
Rusewo is a group that was initiated with the sole objective of socio-ecomomically empowering women and the girl child so that they become independent in life.
