A section of Nakuru residents have expressed apprehension over the looming health workers strike and called on the county government to urgently address the issue.
The residents on Friday said that it would be unfortunate if health workers downed their tools this festive season when issues of their health would seriously be at stake.
Benson Gaitho from Rhonda stated that the reported go slow of health workers in the county had shocked him and his family and appealed to the county government to urgently work a way forward with the disgruntled practitioners.
"This is December and so much is at stake now especially matters health. Who will attend to cases of food poisoning and such that are so common with the festivities if the health workers go on strike? Let the county government immediately address this matter before it degenerates into a crisis," he pleaded.
The same passed for Maria Mokua a grocer in Kaptembwa.To her, the situation she underwent earlier this year when health workers went on strike was devastating and prayed that it would not recur once more.
"It is my prayer that the county government will move fast to address this issue so that health workers will not go on strike and subject patients to another wave of suffering that we underwent the last time it happened," she stated.
The health workers through their chairman Austin Oywer on Wednesday warned that they would go on strike if the government failed to address their issues which included among others; promotions and unpaid allowances.
