Speaking on Monday, they expressed their over the sorry state of the facility. The residents said the hospital condition could pose serious health problems to the patients undergoing treatment

''The fact that they are in a hospital should be worrying, especially since under normal circumstances they ought to be disinfected and washed daily. By them having serious rust, it portrays the fact that they have not been changed for a long time,'' said Kelvin Mwaura, one of the residents.

Mwaura pointed out that the curtains made the hospital inhabitable.

Elijah Mureithi said that the curtains were a reflection of the poor hygiene standards in the hospital.

''The place should be well maintained to ensure that there are no infections. However, with its dirt, patients are prone to more germs and serious diseases,” he added.

They now want the county government to use the emergency kitty to buy new curtains

''This should be a priority by Governor Kinuthia Mbugua. He should put the peoples' health first,” said Peninah Mutheu, another resident.

Attempts to reach the Nakuru Chief of Health, Samuel Mwaura, were futile as his phone went unanswered.
