Youth in Nakuru want the government to involve them in the fight against graft.

The youth pointed out that the only way to end corruption is by involving them in the process.

Speaking in Shabab grounds in Nakuru on Thursday, the youth pointed out that there was need for the government to carry out awareness campaigns at the grassroot level about graft.

“We understand that there are even hotlines where one can report incase you are asked for a bribe by a person in government. Most of the youth are not even aware of that and it is important as they are the ones who are mostly asked for cash in exchange for services,” said Mohamed Ngutu, a youth leader.

He added that youth feel frustrated while seeking information on corruption.

Alice Mueni said the government should protect whistle blowers in corruption cases.

“As youth, we need assurance that incase we raise any issue regarding corruption in the area we will not end up being threatened or killed for it,” she added.

Peter Mwangi added that many of the youth were ready to give information on corruption if they were assured of their safety.
