A section of youths in Nakuru County have registered their displeasure over the latest parastatal appointments by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking separately on Friday, they faulted Uhuru for overlooking the youth and appointing elders following reports that former Roads minister Franklin Bett, former police spokesman Mathew Iteere, Deputy President William Ruto's lawyer, Katwa Kigen were among some of the new appointees.
"This is a slap in the face for the youth of this country. How can the President appoint recycled elders at the expense of thousands of youths who are joblessness," James Mwaniki said.
“I wonder why this regime still claims to be digital when it is so clear their deeds are so old. They do not have our interests at heart and we will vote them out in 2017," added Robert Onyango.
"It is very unfair that vibrancy and merit are being sacrificed at the altar of political loyalty and patronage. Uhuru must know that as the youth of Nakuru and Kenya in general, we are seriously disappointed in him," Brian Wabwire added.
Bett has been appointed chairman of the Agricultural Finance Corporation, while Iteere landed the Nyayo Tea Zones Development Authority.
Kigen was appointed the Unclaimed Assets Authority chairman, while former Konoin MP Julius Kones landed the National Water Conservation and Pipeline Cooperation chairmanship.
