The Nandi county senator, Stephen Sang has attacked the Nandi County governor, Cleophas Lagat to return all the cash that he and his other county officials allegedly stole from the county.

Sang claims since the governor took office in 2013, he has been misusing the county funds. He further accused Lagat’s county government of skimming millions from the county coffers. He said the skimmed money was meant for the development projects in the area.

He said the governor spends county money on projects that are not of any value to residents and that many of the county initiatives are just a waste of resources.

The senator also accused the governor of using public funds amounting to sh17 million on dance and used over sh40 million to construct a billboard. Sang says this is mismanagement of funds since the county lacks important things like ECDE centres and drugs.

The senator now wants Nandi county residents to hold the governor to account. He wants the county government to do their job transparently and fight corruption at all levels.
