Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa has said the county government should keep off national government projects.
Ichung'wa warned the residents of Kikuyu against listening to county leaders who claim projects under the national government were implemented by them.
“Let me make it clear that the light masts you see installed are done by the national government, and not the county government as some would have you believe,” said Ichung'wa.
Last week, Kikuyu MCA Binary Wainaina had said the light mast installed in Kidfarmaco Estate was under the county government.
According to sources from the estate, it was Wainaina who scouted the area and sought space for the light mast to be installed.
“It was MCA Wainaina who asked a local church to allow the light mast to be installed in their compound. So, sense would have it that it was the county government who are installing the lights,” said a source who requested anonymity.
Ichung'wa, however, said, “We (national government) will soon hand over the lights to the county government, but before that they should not claim ownership of the projects,” said Ichung'wa.
He was speaking at the St Mark’s Kidfarmaco Church where he contributed Sh300, 000 towards buying of land for the church.
Ichung'wa hit out at the county government, and asked them to tarmac the estate roads as they had promised.
“The national government has tarmacked Kikuyu Town roads, work that was launched by Deputy President William Ruto. Let the county government fulfill its promise and tarmac the roads in the interior parts of Kikuyu,” said Ichung'wa.
