The exercise to recruit chiefs and their assistants to fill vacant posts in Nyamira County has kicked off following advertisement by the national government.
Local leaders have hailed the move by the national government saying it will save residents of the affected areas from travelling long distances in search of essential government services.
Speaking at Nyamira PAG Church on Sunday, County commissioner Josephine Onunga said there were 12 administrative units within the county that are vacant and which require to be filled.
She added that the recruitment is important for the government to effectively render services to residents in the concerned areas.
The county commissioner added that deputy county commissioners have instructions to organise the recruitment.
A spot check revealed that the advertisement for the vacant positions have been placed at public notice boards at government offices across the county.
She assured that the exercise will be transparent and fair.
“We will carry out the exercise and only the qualified staff will be hired so that they can carry out the mandate put aside for them” she added
She called upon area residents to apply for the positions in order to serve the public.
