The national government has been urged to increase the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocations to all constituencies in order to improve education standards for the needy and bright students.
According to Dr. Evans Nyatigo who is eyeing the Nyamira gubernatorial seat in 2017, many classrooms, dormitories, dining halls and laboratories had been built using the kitty and hundreds of students from primary, secondary and tertiary colleges have directly benefited and therefore there was need for the National government to consider increasing the funds.
“CDF is a good initiative in promoting development at the grass roots; we therefore believe that our county can grow faster if we had more allocations," he said.
He was addressing residents at Ramba social hall in Nyamira south sub county where he said that boarding school facilities initiated by the CDF kitty had helped retain children in schools from the region.
Nyatigo also challenged all the area elected leaders to ensure that they deliver what they promised the public during the last campaigns or they may not get re-elected come 2017.
