Gilgil Member of Parliament Mathenge Nderitu has called for patience saying that the fate of all bursary applicants will be known soon since committees at different locations were still going through the applications.

Speaking on Tuesday when he visited area Constituency Development Fund (CDF) offices where the final vetting process is on-going, Nderitu expressed confidence in the completion of the vetting in due time saying that he was committed in supporting all bright but needy students in his constituency.

He noted that consideration will be made to students that have performed exemplary in their studies in from primary, secondary, post-secondary tertiary institutions, colleges and universities.

“Basing on the geographical description of our area, we encountered some hitches in reaching some remote schools but the problems are already solved and the final lists will be out in due time,” he said.

“We are aware that the 2016 academic calendar is on but we cannot submit cheques to schools without vetting because this is public money that must be accounted for to the very last cent,” the MP added.

More than 2, 000 students are set to benefit from the funding this year with Nderitu revealing that this year’s allocation will surpass last year’s.

After the bursary issuance, Nderitu noted that the CDF office will now turn to other development projects within the larger Gilgil constituency and expressed confidence in finishing any project initiated under his administration.
