The Uasin Gishu county government has embarked on formulating a plan that will reorganise Eldoret town to make it a city.
Speaking in his office on Friday, governor Jackson Mandago said the spatial plan is meant to put proper planning of Eldoret town and towns in Uasin Gishu county to bring order.
"We are working on the spatial plan (2014-2017) that will help in planning of the increased populatuion, deal with the town's expansion as well as design mechanisms of dealing with traffic jam.
According to the governor, the plan will also address issues of street lighting, zebra crossings, enhancement of security, improvement of health and agricultural sectors, ICT and Education, food security and how buildings will be constructed at the CBD.
He reiterated that once the spatial plan is completed and implemented, Eldoret town and Uasin Gishu county will fully be transformed and will have a city status.
"The 2014-2017 spatial plan will be completed in eighteen months to come and will be launched and implemented to the latter," he added.
