Residents of Ngarariga village in Tigoni, Limuru Sub County have urged the police in the area to intensify security and deal with criminals gangs allegedly causing havoc in the village.

The residents are complaining over what they say as rise in criminal activities. The locals allege that cases of crime involving young people are on the rise and want the police to intervene.

Speaking on Wednesday, the locals said that a gang of young people is behind a series of criminal acts reported in the area.

John Kinuthia, a resident of the village said that cases of people’s homes being broken into and property stolen have increased in the past two weeks.

He alleged that a gang of young people who operate with crude weapons is causing problems in the area.

“Our security is getting worse and we can no longer conduct our business comfortably for fear of being attacked,” he said.

Kinuthia alleged that the gang strikes at midnight and threaten victims with death before robbing and fleeing.

Maureen Mugacia, a resident also complained over the state of insecurity claiming that some cases of crime are committed in the open daylight.

“It is risky for one to walk alone in this village because you never know when the thugs will pounce on you,” she said.

The residents want the police to intensify security and arrest the situation. They say that they feel no longer safer adding that the situation may be worse this festive season.

Reacting to the locals claims, Limuru OCPD Mohamed Bakuli said that investigations will be launched into the matter.

The OCPD said that police have put in place strategies aimed at providing security of every resident. Bakuli asked the residents to work with the police closely saying that it will help in curbing security.

There have been worrying concerns over rising insecurity in several parts of Kiambu County recently.

On Monday, County Commissioner Alex Nkoyo warned criminals saying that their days are numbered.

The commissioner who recalled all police officers on leave assured residents that their security will be guaranteed this festive season.
