Residents of Ngesha village in Bahati constituency have called on area MP Kimani Ngunjiri to hasten the completion of the construction of a stalled police station in the area.
Led by Timothy Mwangi who is an aspirant for the Kabatini ward in the 2017 elections, the residents said that lack of a police station in the area has led to increased cases of robbery and murder.
Mwangi said that the residents donated a piece of land to be used in constructing the police station but the works stalled four years ago.
"We gave this piece of land to the government to help us construct a police station but the CDF committee has delayed the project for four years and this has worsened the security situation here," said Mwangi.
"We are calling on honourable Ngunjiri to hasten the completion of this station so that security can be restored in Ngesha," he added.
Mwangi said that cases of murder are on the rise in the area with armed robbers targeting businessmen and farmers.
"We have lost two people who were murdered here and many have been left with grave injuries after being attacked by thugs and this is blamed on the lack of police patrols in this area," said Mwangi.
Mwangi warned that the residents will contribute money to complete the construction of the police station should the area MP fail to complete it in the next three months.
"If they will not have completed this station by April then the same way we donated land is the same way we will contribute money to complete the police station," he said.
