A Nakuru based non-governmental organisation,  Midrift Human Rights Network, will next month hold a dialogue forum to chart ways of dealing with urban violence.

The forum that will bring together the chief of Kaptembwa location and the three area assistant chiefs, will also include village elders, members of the Nyumba Kumi initiative, landlords, business community and the police based in the area.

“The forum is meant to look at how to deal with urban violence in Kaptembwa. We also want to hear the views of the business community and residents so as to have a clear picture of the hard hit areas and the forms of violence common in the area,” revealed Walter Mwania, the NGO's spokesperson.

Mwania was speaking at a meeting held at Kaptembwa chief’s office in preparation for the March 11 forum at PCEA Shabaab Hall.

Others present at the meeting were Assistant chiefs Joseph Macharia of Mwariki, Paul Kirui of Kaptembwa and Stephen Mwaniki of Githima Sub-Location.

The chief, MrKiptanui Koech, promised to work with his assistants to help mobilise people to the meeting.

“I’ll mobilise the leaders of the residents’ associations, members of community based organisations, businessmen and religious leaders to the meeting since the issue of security is a collective responsibility,” promised the chief.
