Nyaga, who spoke to farmers in Ngoingwa on Friday, said fish was becoming increasingly popular among Thika residents, adding that farmers who will be harvesting their fish this month will make good profits.

"We are in a festive season when everybody is in a festive mode. Many people are used to the common meat from cattle. During a time like this they would like to try something different and that is where a fish farmer comes in," said Nyaga.

He asked the farmers to think about fish farming seriously as the year comes to an end and incorporate it in their new year's resolutions.

"For those who are yet to get into this farming, perhaps, it is the time you started thinking seriously about it and make it one of your new year's resolutions," he said.

Nyaga said his department and that of livestock were ready to provide experts to help interested farmers venture into the farming.
