Areas within Bahati Constituency that have not been lit up are set to have a new look after a proposal to have additional funding from Rural Electrification Authority (REA) was endorsed.
Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri said that the constituency has been given 94 transformers which are awaiting connectivity.
“I have been in talks with the ministry of Energy led by Keter and today (Wednesday) I was there and my people will get power," said Ngunjiri.
He also said that he is happy to note that there will be ongoing power connectivity activities in the area following a survey by engineers from REA.
“Engineers from REA spent the whole of today in Njeneni/Barasta area, Umoja area, Kendurum Primary School and Kanduma/Nairobi area in Bahati Ward. Also visited are the Menengai Hill View Point, Central Primary School and Upper Heshima area in Kiamaina Ward. Githioro Dundori Corner and Mugwathi Kirima area in Dundori Ward and Mathare area in Kabatini ward areas,” he further posted on his Facebook page.
He added that the areas which were under survey will receive power supply since many homes in the area require more than one electric post for connectivity.
Ngunjiri further urged residents to be vigil of fraudsters who have conned people purporting to bring them power connectivity.
“There are con men posing as people from REA and KPLC but they are con men who want to fleece people,” he said.
