Kiambu MP Jude Njomo has urged youth in the constituency to apply for the positions of Voter Registration Assistants advertised in the local dailies on Friday by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Mr Njomo who addressed journalists at his Kiambu office on Friday asked qualified youth to apply for the temporary jobs. He said youth will have an opportunity to get employment if they send in their applications.

“The IEBC has advertised over 2,000 temporary voter registration jobs and want to urge youth from Kiambu to apply for the jobs,” he said.

The MP said that youth should be active and utilise every activity that will give them descent income.

On Friday the Electoral Commission advertised over 2,000 positions for Voter Registration Assistants in readiness for the massive voter registration exercise scheduled to start next month.

The Commission through the local dailies announced temporary vacancies for 2,878 Voter Registration Assistants.

According to the advertisement, the VRAs will assist Constituency Registration and Deputy Registration officers in the voter registration exercise.

The advertisement indicates that the VRAs will also be charged with publicising the voter registration exercise in their areas of deployment and conducting registration.

The applicants according to the advert are required to apply from the areas where they stay for example in their respective counties, sub counties and wards.

The advert signed by the commission Chief Executive Officer Mr Ezra Chiloba states that applicants must be Kenyan citizens aged 21 and above, be holders of at least a Diploma ICT or It related field.
