Kiambu constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Jude Njomo has challenged marginalised groups in the area to grab government development opportunities for their empowerment.
Speaking at Kiambu town on Saturday, Njomo said that marginalised groups including youths, women and persons living with disabilities have been presented with an opportunity to better their lives through the development funds.
Njomo said that the Uwezo, Biashara funds and the 30% government tenders set aside for the marginalised groups would help them better their lives if they apply.
“I am urging youths, women and persons living with disabilities across Kiambu constituency to grab the development money being given by the national and the county government for their empowerment,” he said.
Njomo noted that marginalised groups are reluctant to seek the funds noting that the move has continued the chain of poverty and unemployment.
The MP said that he is working with the county and the national government on job creation for the youths. He added that various development projects are being initiated through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) that will empower the community.
At the same time, the MP cautioned youths against being swayed to take part in crime by selfish people.
