Kiambu MP Jude Njomo has cited access to clean water as the main problem facing residents in the constituency but vowed to address it.

Speaking when he visited the Kamiti and Riara dam projects that are under construction in Kiambu on Thursday, Njomo said that he will work tirelessly and use every resource to ensure residents have access to clean water.

The MP observed that through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) he has commissioned several water projects across the constituency.

Njomo noted that many residents cannot access clean water a move he said that he resulted to rising cases of waterborne diseases.

The MP said that once the Kamiti and Riara dam projects are completed residents will have access to sufficient water both for domestic and animal consumption.

He also said that the completion of the dams that are being funded by the CDF and Kiambu county government will enable residents’ access water for irrigation farming.

Njomo intimated that water is a basic necessity that every Kenyan is entitled to adding that the county government should fast-track tap water connection to all residents.

At the same time, Njomo announced that the drilling of two boreholes in Gicoco village in Kiambu constituency will start in early next month.

Njomo was accompanied by Athi Water Services Board Engineer Kiprono Rop and the Kiambu County Chief officer for water and natural resources John Muhia said that contractors have been awarded the tender and will start the work next month.

The MP assured residents that he is keen to promote service delivery through development projects. Njomo said that he will focus on development and urged politicians to stop petty politics and work for the people.
