Residents of Njawatho village in Njoro sub-county on Friday took to the streets over the resurgence of second generation alcohol.
The residents allege that a man lost his life after consuming the liquor.
It was alleged Daniel Maina, a mason lost his life after consuming a lethal drink.
“Maina bought a pint of chang'aa at Sh100, drunk it and did not wake up," said Susan Wairimu, the mother of the deceased.
The residents blamed the provincial administration for the menace and called for their sacking for failing to fight the illicit liquor.
The residents later moved to the brewer who prepared the liquor and burnt her tools of trade and threatened to lynch her.
Police from Njoro Police Station had a hectic moment restraining the angry residents from lynching the brewer.
Njoro Police Station OCS Mershark Mwangangi confirmed the death and said the body was taken to Nakuru mortuary.
The OCS urged the residents to obey rule of law.
The brewer was taken to Njoro police Station and is expected to be arraigned in court on Monday.
