Nakuru youth have been earmarked as the main victims, consumers, suppliers and brewers of illicit brews in the county, and adopting positive change would go a milestone in fighting the brews.
County Commissioner Joshua Nkanatha accused young people of being too rigid to change saying their unwillingness to embrace what was required of them by society was the reason behind their addiction and dependence on alcohol and other drugs.
He said change was a personal but gradual process that takes sacrifice, commitment and determination to achieve things the present breed of the youthful generation were not ready to do.
“Our youths have proven to be unmanageable something that has led to the society segregating them, allowing them make misinformed decisions that in turn affect all of us. They got to understand that they are the leaders of tomorrow and what they engage in today might have a direct impact on their lives in future,” he said.
He spoke during the launch the sub-county Alcoholic Drinks Regulation, Administration and Review Committee at the county headquarters on Friday.
According to the commissioner, if young people take up the initiative of fighting illicit brews in their respective areas, the county will not be complaining of it today.
He lauded Governor Kinuthia Mbugua's move of creating sub-county committees saying it was a move towards the right direction destined to making the County an illicit brew free zone.
