Governor Alfred Mutua has said he will continue with his 'Maendeleo Chap Chap' initiative for the benefit of residents despite facing criticism.
Addressing journalists in his office on Friday, the governor said the 'Maendeleo Chap Chap' initiative has been facing criticism with some people claiming that it is a plan to embezzle public funds.
Mutua called upon Machakos residents to have faith in his agenda and back him in his plans to develop the county.
"A tree with fruits has to persevere stones from passersby and I will not back down on my development plan for residents of Machakos county,” said Mutual.
He added: "I will not be moved by their criticism since I am concentrating on serving Machakos people because that is what they elected me for.”
The governor said he intends to complete all 18 road projects in the county before June 2016.
He added that before the completion of his term, he will have completed all projects.
“If Machakos residents do not see me fit to govern them for a another term, I will respect their decision,” said Mutua.
