Nominated Senator Daisy Kanaiza has urged women to register as voters in preparation for the 2017 general election.
Speaking on Tuesday during an Orange Democratic Movement officials meeting Ms Kanaiza said many women do not participate in elections because majority of them do not have ID cards.
"I urge women to take Identity Cards and register as voters in the nearest Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission office," she said.
She said that women are tha majority and play a very vital role in determining the future of this country.
"It is time as women to register as voter and elect one of our own."
She said women constitute majority of the population and that registering in large numbers would enable them elect a lady to the highest office.
