Members of the Nubian Community through a lobby group, Nubian Rights Forum, based in Kibera have expressed dissatisfaction in the manner in which the state is handling their concerns about land and title deeds.
A statement sent to media on Monday and which was signed by NRF chairperson Shaffie Hussein Ali, the community has decried the neglect by the government despite constant promises.
"Consultation were undertaken by the community members and task-force on the originally 4194 acres of Nubian Land was commissioned to champion the interest of the community as far as land issues are concerned. With the former Land CS Charity Ngilu almost to fruition, resolution were made on the later. To our surprise, up to date nothing has been done," reads the statement in part.
They are now seeking appointment with the Current CS of Land Prof Jacob Kaimenyi to address their concern stating that they have been subjected to further marginalisation.
The lobby has vowed to mobilise the community to snub the coming general elections if the demands are not met.
"We acknowledge politicians will use this pertinent issue and make it part of their messaging in the campaigns. We will not accept it and hence mobilise the community to boycott the elections in 2017," NRF stated.
