Squabbling Ford People officials have been urged to embrace mediation and reconciliation for the sake of stabilising the party ahead of 2017 polls.
This comes after barely two weeks after a faction led by former Kitutu Masaba MP Mwancha Okioma ousted legitimately elected officials under the leadership of Mr Henry Obwocha, accusing them of ‘killing’ the party by working with newly formed Jubilee party.
But Mr Charles Nyachae whose father, Simeon Nyachae, is a pioneer of the party on Saturday called for tolerance among the officials and challenged them to solve the differences amicably.
“I am disillusioned with what I am seeing currently in Ford-People. As leaders, we should always embrace reconciliation and mediation. The party is more important than an individual’s hence it’s high time the leaders sit together and iron out their differences,” he said at a function in Gesabakwa.
The former CIC chairman said the party stood a good chance of having a positive impact in 2017 following a series of wins in by-elections in Gusii land and ruled out possibilities of dissolving the party.
“I am not of the idea we dissolve the party because it’s gaining politically. We won in Bomachoge Borabu, Bonchari and Nyaribari Chache and I am seeing more victories in future. However, we can only do that if we put our house in order by ensuring leaders speak from the same script,” he said.
Mr Okioma’s team has been engaged in tussles for a long time with Obwocha’s camp with the former accusing the latter of conspiring with top JAP management to have the Ford People party dissolved.
