Bomet governor’s decision to form a new outfit in the vote rich Rift Valley region has been welcomed by his Nyamira counterpart John Nyagarama.
Isaac Ruto announced formation of Mashinani Development Party of Kenya which he said was meant to give people options and improve the democratic space.
Speaking at Guardian Hotel in Nyamira on Monday evening, Nyagarama asked Kenyans to join parties of their choice without being coerced by politicians which a common trend in Kenya politics, according to him.
“Having many parties is welcome in Kenya because we are living in a democratic country. We give citizens more democratic space to choose the party of their choice rather that forcing them to move towards a particular direction. I think Isaac (Ruto) has done a nice thing,” he said.
Nyagarama urged Kenyans not to vote a particular party but individuals based on their contribution to social economic activities in the society.
“Sometimes I don’t see why we should be too sensitive on matters political parties because some have been turned into dictatorship avenues. Let us elect an individual rather than a party. Politicians remain the same regardless of the political party they join,” he added.
Nyagarama also urged political parties to promote democracy in the parties.
