Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama insists he will not defect from the Orange Democratic Movement party despite rumours linking him to the Jubilee Party.

Nyagarama recently joined leaders allied to the Jubilee Party among them Kisii Senator Chris Obure and Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i to popularise the infamous Gusii Unity movement.

And on Thursday, Nyagarama defended his political doublespeak on the Gusii unity, insisting it had nothing to do with his loyalty to the Orange party.

“I am in the ODM to stay because it’s my party. People linking me with a move to Jubilee are just but rumour mongers. As Governor, I am determined to make the Orange party great and that is what I have been doing for many years now,” county boss said.

“Preaching unity among the Abagusii people is not a big issue to me. It has nothing to do with politics, and people should know that. I will compete within the party and seek the ticket for the 2017 polls,” he added.

Nyagarama is facing fierce competition from West Mugirango MP James Gesami who also double’s as the party’s County chairman.
