Nyamira governor John Nyagarama has lamented over frequent power outages in Nyamira town and other parts of the county.
Speaking on Wednesday in Nyamira town, Nyagarama complained that residents incur huge losses due to the power outages. He asked Kenya Power to address the issue urgently.
"Our people are suffering and counting loses due to power outages experienced in various market centres. This is discouraging young business ventures," said Nyagarama.
However, the governor said they will install solar energy at Sironga that will serve the centre and other surrounding areas.
"We have finalized plans to erect solar energy at Sironga. This is in partnership with a Chinese and an American company," he said.
He added: "This will help our residents and ensure development in our county."
