The county government of Nyamira has yet again been lauded by residents of Bosamaro and Bogichora following the initiation of construction of a major road that connects the two wards.

The road has been under immense debate with the county government at some time blaming the Kenya Rural Roads authority for omission.

Led by Bogichora MCA Buttah Omanga on Tuesday, they lauded the county government for taking an action regardless of the road being under the jurisdiction of the national government.

“This is a major road here and many residents depend on it for transportation of farm produces to markets. I want to thank the county government on behalf of the local residents for chipping in to salvage the situation. In fact, this is a relief to many people around this place,” he said.

Omanga, however, urged the contractor to expedite the construction for the sake of easing pressure from farmers most of them who carry out tea farming business.

“It is now upon the contractor to ensure the exercise is done as quickly as possible because this is a major road. We don’t want cases of contractor delaying yet our people have suffered for quite a long time. But this is a good thing by our county government,” he said.

He urged the Transitional Authority to act in speed and devolve the road function to county level to avoid future strained working relationships between Kerra and the public works department of the county government.
